61. What a lot of people don't realize is that you don't HAVE TO go through that.

Everyone can learn to control their emotions, it's just that most people don't want to. And when they are not thinking rationally, they set themselves up to get hurt over and over. And it's like a broken record. It's sort of pathetic.

Now, this is usually where somebody comes on and spouts some cliche about how it's "better to have loved and lost...blah blah blah" or assures me that I'm never going to be happy unless I open myself to being hurt. And I find it all very silly. I'm not some sort of recluse. I've had more than my share of girlfriends and dalliances, and I've had plenty of fun. I've also got a long term girlfriend with who I share my life. There is no drama in my relationship, we never fight, I am at peace, and if something does happen (like cheating, etc) then it will end and I will keep on going.

I'm sorry if I sound defensive (and perhaps I am), but I am often lectured by lovey dovey people who have terrible relationships, are unhappy, and get all excited about all the love they have, when they have it. And then I have to put up with their sorry little sob fests when they get, as I put it, romantically pwned.
