Personally, I'm not gay, so it doesn't float my boat to be with another person of the same gender. But I support their equal right to be together. If I saw someone on DU posting "ewww, I find gay marriage to be icky" I'd speak out against it. They have a right to their personal reaction, but once they publish their thoughts on a forum, I view it as spreading prejudice (endorsing the view that it's icky) to other people.

So I think it's better to just leave it as "a matter of choice" and harmful to take the extra time to post "still gives me the icks."

If a gay person here reads post after post saying "gay marriages are icky", or posts saying "gay marriage is like incest between a mother and their kid" how would that make them feel? That's how cousins who are married feel, when they see this reaction again and again.
