Best vocals of Michael McDonald's career, IMHO...which doesn't mean a hell of a lot to people who don't like him.
There's also a tough, world-weary stance in most of the lyrics that has an underlying layer of tenacity and a refusal to give up...real yin / yang stuff. I also feel that "Boston Rag" (from "Countdown To Ecstasy") is the best song never recorded by Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young (a really strong Graham Nash vibe to the harmony vocals). And from that same album, how could anybody NOT love a band that writes lyrics like "Show business kids making movies of themselves, you know they don;t give a fuck about anybody else?"  :toast: |
