30. boycotts
I just use my own judgment, basically. I try to buy stuff from small companies if possible. I am avoiding beef now because of the mad cow contamination. but even for other meats, I am buying organicly grown ones, because I want to put money into companies that are more aware. Foster farms chicken has more than once caused me to be ill, so I avoid that brand. I often shop at trader joes, or a local organic community market that i trust, or a local fresh vegetable market. I sometimes go to small hispanic stores, or businesses that seem to have a good vibe. I have stayed with macintosh computers, mainly because I like them. I use working assets and am considering switching to them for local as well. Although I think att is alot worse than pac bell. It seems to me that these are all lesser of evil choices, and I would love to have some even better options. It's a little like the Kucinich possibility- I think he'd be a wonderful candidate. I wish our country was more receptive to him. It's like the California recall ballot where I voted for Cruz Bustamante but wanted to vote for Arianna Huffington- and then wished I'd gone on and done it.

I've had cable disconnected, but am not sure if that will be permanent. I just need a break from it, and am angry about paying for and having to watch right wing programs. Actually, the main reason I got rid of cable was that it distracted me from my writing. Now if I can limit my time online, I'll definitely get some work done.

in addition to all of the boycotts mentioned above, I would add aol, att, foster farms, mobile gasoline, bush baked beans (just in case), bank of amerika, and anyplace that gives you a funky nauseous feeling in the pit of your stomach.
