36. Here's how that would work
Actually, there are many ways it could work that you have "attracted" the disease called cancer. Off the top of my head, any or all or something else entirely, these are just representative examples:

* you are eating yourself alive with resentments, unforgiveness, and/or other highly toxic, lethal thoughts

* guilt about something or a lot of things (which is just another version of the previous) makes you punish yourself with this disease and/or other really bad things

* there is something you are to learn -- and usually go on to share with / teach others -- via having the disease and recovering from it

* your belief system (which can be changed, and fairly easily if you're motivated to do so) includes the belief that you are highly vulnerable to this or other horrible diseases, too close a tie to mass thoughtforms and consciousness

* a general and all-pervading sense of victimization

* someone you loved or cared deeply about suffered and died from cancer or a similar disease and you "took on" some of their pain, or tried to and that vow is stuck and needs to be released

* it's actually your time to die (in my spiritual system we choose our own method and time of death, at the Soul level), and that is the avenue you have chosen, for your own reasons

* Karma. Something about one or more previous lives (if you believe in such, and frankly even if you don't) makes your having cancer a way to balance the energies and pay off a karmic debt.

In every case, the individual at Soul level has chosen and actively participates in the disease for its own development.

These are really just a few examples. I'm sure there are other rationales. But yes, we create our own reality, tho it's a little more complicated than that somewhat glib-sounding statement makes it sound.

NONE OF THIS makes the person who is ill worthy at blame or fault. IN ALL CASES, love and compassion for the individual are completely warranted.

There are SO many people who have recovered from cancer who say that the experience was the most important AND beneficial thing in their life. I'm not suggesting that anyone should aspire to the experience of having cancer; rather, my point is that the human spirit can triumph over all sorts of things and that we are always free to choose the path that most fits with our Soul's plan for us.

There are worse things than death, and sometimes the "healing" we pray for for those we care about IS the release known as death.
