I think that she was legitimately traumatized by that, and her appearance on Saturday Night Live right after it happened was a pretty brave deal. There are several different pieces of footage of her facing the press right after it happened and she looked to me almost like a sexual assault victim the way she carried herself in those first few days, just a scared kid who got majorly fucked over by a man who was old enough to know better. What a complete slime, I mean, he was 30 and he exploited a 19 year old girl.

Media fasicnation with children of the rich in this country is no new thing, it just faded out of fashion during the 60's through the 90's and now apparently it is back. But back in the day there was whole debutante culture of young women whose every move was followed by the media just because of who they were. One thing that makes this crop of 'celebutantes' different from the old school rich girls is that some of them work their asses off, the Hilton sisters included, even though they don't have to. If I had their money I don't think I would.
