49. Yes, I should. I'm not real big on pointless regrets, but I would,
if I had the opportunity, go back and do two things:

1) Concentrate on writing as a career, rather than doing is a peripheral thing; and

2) Beg, plead, whine and moan to get my parents to take the piano with us (instead of donating it to the town) when we moved away from Vermont. I was just starting to make Mrs Harkelrode (the best music teacher EVER, and I've stayed in touch with her ever since) approve of my progress.

But I can't do those things. And just as well; if I had done so, my chances of meeting Mrs R would have been that much the less (and they were damned unlikely enough as it is).

Everything works out the way it's supposed to, yes?
