13. I had a great aunt who delivered Meals on Wheels to the "old folks"

when she was 92. :P She always said that she still felt like she was 30 but that her body was giving out on her before she was ready. Her body may have been 92, but she was NOT old. :)

Old is a state of mind. Case in point: My mother-in-law (who has a whole host of emotional issues besides this) is old. She has been old since she was in her mid-20s. She is now 78. That means for 50-odd years, she has been old. She has never allowed herself to enjoy things, and according to my husband, has used the phrase, "I'll probably die tomorrow, so..." ever since he can remember. I hate going to visit my in-laws even though they only live 30 minutes away because it's as depressing as a funeral parlor.

To me, "old" is someone who can't enjoy at least some aspect of his or her life, regardless of how small it may seem. It may be stopping to smell the roses, cooking a delicious meal, volunteering to take Meals on Wheels to people younger than yourself, or taking time to throw the frisbee with children or grandchildren. If you can do that and enjoy it, there's no way you can be "old." :D

BTW, I'm just gonna ignore what MMR said about being "old". :P Time has a way of paying people back, and paybacks can be hell...
