6. It's so sad how our jazz foremothers

are summarily ignored. Shirley Horn's work and story are absolutely remarkable. People were tellin' her she couldn't do what she wanted to do (an album of ballads) FOR DECADES. When she finally got it done the damn thing flew STRAIGHT to the top of the charts and STAYED THERE. She was an incredible inspiration as an artist on ALL levels.

But obviously not significant enough to some that news of her passing warrants mention... :cry:
