9. I love that stuff
I got into most of it by way of alt-country bands like Uncle Tupelo; they are my favorite band of all-time and it was a revelation to listen to people like George Jones, Hank Williams, Lefty Frizzell, Bill Monroe for the first time. To me they are just as Punk as Black Flag or Husker Du just for the fact that they they all sang w/ absolute honesty; like you said, you can hear and more importantly, FEEL the pain in their voices.
