18. Some horrible Harold Robbins crap
Maybe "The Carpetbaggers"? Don't remember the title. I was about 11 or 12. I was always a big reader; I'd pick up any book and read it. My mom found me reading "Lord of the Flies" when I was about 9 and was sort of concerned as it's a pretty heavy story. But, being a pretty cool mom, she very mildly asked me, "Do you understand it?" and I said, "Yeah, and it's really good" and that was that.

The Robbins I recognized as terrible from the get-go but I must admit the sex fascinated me.
