Edited to note: the real traffic hazard here isn't the increased number of vehicles on the road as more and more people move here over the years.

The real traffic hazard is all the cell phone addicts behind the wheel. They're friggin' nuts. You don't have to be on a road or a freeway to get hit by one of those junkies - they'll clip you in a parking lot as well. They're almost never paying attention to where they're going.
