of the US government's response to reports of persecution of Jews in Germany. The US did not want to allow Jewish children in because they would grow up to be Jewish adults (and there was A LOT of antisemitism in the US at the time).
Hotel Rwanda was so much like Schindler's List. What is amazing is that all of this took place in 1994, after Schindler's List was released to the theatres and people's awareness of the Holocause increased. Yet the US did nothing. I'll bet if there had been oil or some other exploitable resource in Rwanda or the people had been white, the US response would have been different.
