Part of the problem is I made a stupid mistake and decided to quit one of my meds cold turkey. Add that to my list of weaknesses. I should have tapered off.

Traditionally, SSRIs don't do me any good and the doc was going to deep-six this one eventually, anyway. I just decided to get it over with a bit faster than I should have.

Stopping Escitalopram (Lexapro, Cipralex): Discontinuation Effects or Withdrawal Symptoms

It is best to consult a physician before discontinuing SSRIs. Adverse events reported upon discontinuation of this medication, according to the manufacturer, have included:

* dysphoric mood
* irritability
* agitation
* dizziness
* sensory disturbances (e.g. paresthesias such as electric shock sensations)
* anxiety
* confusion
* headache
* lethargy
* emotional lability
* insomnia, and
* hypomania

Note that these discontinuation effects have been particularly prominent when the medication is discontinued abruptly.
