FreeRepublic started as a noble goal to provide a voice at the grassroots level to keep watch over wrong doing by the government (regardless of parties in power). In recent years and more in the last few months that has changed, it has turned into a censorship organization where nothing can be said against the current administration. If so the blue-meanie moderator will zap your comments and ban you for life! And they have the nerve to ask people for donations to run this site. The excellent articles from the past 1998-2000 era are gone. It has been downgraded to who won the NASCAR race or the focus seems like a monthly donation drive. Rarely can you find an intellectual review or comparsion article like once before. Lot's of hate, and just plain stupid comments. It seems the majority of the folks (sheep) now blindly support a move towards a police state than a democracy. The purpose of the original site seems to have been lost!

As the election draws closer, FreeRepublic has become a censored message board. The original intent of being a "grassroots conservative forum" has morphed into a "Re-elect George W. Bush at all costs" fourm.
Many long time posters have been banned for critisizing GW Bush's domestic polices from CFR, Medicare and the Patriot Act. If one chooses to critisize the President's domestic policies on FR, the poster will be attacked by the Bushbot regulars who will call the poster a troll and equate everything critical that is said about the President into to working to have the Democrats elected instead.

Many conservative posters have left FreeRepublic and now post at Libertypost.org, a NON-CENSORED conservative site.
