it's for the tuition for my son's Montessori preschool. That's why our budget is so tight! But public preschool costs the same as private where I live, so my only choice would have been to not enroll him in any school, which I refuse to do.

I do like the idea of not putting a stop payment on the check, since it is made out to them. The only problem is that they STILL need their money for September, and I'm not in the position of paying $406 twice out of my monthly budget. It might be cheaper to stop payment.

Damn. Gives me something to think about.
