Reply #78: It shows me how truly insignificant we are

No matter ow much power we muster - even that of the hydrogen bomb - our power is but nothing compared to the power of nature, of earth, and of the universe.

"You gonna spend a few hundred years setting up towns and resorts and shit on a few thousand miles of coastline? Well, then, I the Earth will destroy it all in one hour."

And etc. Same with hurricanes and tornadoes and earthquakes. And the power that is in the sun - something like 1,000,000,000,000 nuclear bombs of every second of energy being converted in the sun. Yeah, we humans look pretty fucking pathetic.

Really makes me think we should just give up trying to outdestroy each other, and work together instead. And work in harmony with nature, and not against it. And come to realize that everything we have is temporary and liminal and evanescent, so we shouldn't get attached to material things at all.
