Older people see the world differently. The world has changed since their views hardened. The world changed on them, they didn't change on it. It will challenge us as well. Throw in the family dynamic and the religion dynamic and the government dynamic, American style, and you become what you become. Your mom is a victim.

If there's no malice on either side, why not go to her and say, "ok mom, Merry Christmas" and set it aside.

Family is something you can't buy or earn, and you'll only have one mother, and when she's gone, she's gone.

How that pov goes over here really shouldn' t matter.
