8. Grab my pitchfork and meet you guys in DC
That's a joke, but I believe, and this isn't a threat nor is it meant to condone what I believe will happen, that if Bush gets another term, by hook or by crook, there will be violence on American soil. The anger, the rightious outrage, the sense of violation we all have, the sense that Bush is beginning America down a destructive path while raping all of our principles-- all of the ideals this nation was founded on-- will boil over.

There's an old saying about revolutions, that they don't come from hopelessness, they come from crushed expectations. Americans, those of us who are true patriots, expect America to be better than it now is. We expect it to live up to the principles it espouses-- equality for all (not just Americans), the rights of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Under Bush, we have become as Germany was in the early days of Hitler--invading nations on the thinnest pretexts, even using the same pretexts of terrorism and liberation and patriotism.

It will be hard to watch this great nation sink lower, to watch it destroyed by an imbecile and a corrupt media and a lot of Americans who don't understand anything. I think it will be too much for some. I'd like to think that as Democrats we are above rioting, are above violence, are able to control our emotions. But these emotions are at a dangerous level, and I have a really, really bad freeling about it all.

What we should do, what I hope we do, is continue what we've been doing. Keep up the energy, work to change minds, put pressure on the government to follow the right path, and expose the media for the fraud that it is. We've done amazing things so far-- Air America, MoveOn, the peace marches. We need to step that up, we need to take back state, local and federal governments, we need to continue to write and publish the truth on the Internet so that people at least have the chance to hear it. That's what I hope we will do. That's what I will do. But my crystal ball has a less rosy picture in it.

Let's not wait until after the elections to pour all of our energies into defeating Bush, though. Let's do it now.
