The quintessential American musical!!!!! I hope you rent a DVD with some background information. This was the first musical to really integrate music and dance with the plot. Previously songs were really more a pause to commetn on the plot, whereas with Oklahoma! (I keep wnating to type an "O" there!) they were incredibly integrated. Get both the movie version (you'll see Mrs. Partridge as a young girl) and the recent recording of the London production that subsequently went to Broadway (you'll see Hugh Jackman shirtless). Both are amazing.
