65. "and not very nice at all." LOL!

I can certainly share your feelings, Allen (God help me if I ever bumped into DeLay or G.W. Bush -- and God help them). The current political climate is particularly nasty and extremely dangerous, mind-bogglingly so.

But that said, I think Bertha has the right idea. Hatred consumes so much energy and sometimes blinds us to the things we need to do. I always find it easier to be in request mode (rather than rant mode) when calling a congressional office about some piece of legislation or another. It keeps me focused. If I'm angry, though, it's harder to control the situation and get done what I want done.

Also, I have to confess to DESPISING the way the leadership of the GOP runs things and liking individual Republicans. My brother is a Republican, and both my parents were Republicans.

Also, there was a time, my children, when actual living, breathing progressives were leaders in the GOP. There are still a few around, though precious few at this point.

But the situation we're in is hideous, no too ways about it, and I've used language against Bush & Co. that would put hair back on Dick Cheney's head.
