those guys were real guys. The Joe Pesci character was a fellow named Tony Spillatro in real life, only in real life he was probably a lot less fun to be around. He would brag about killing people with ice picks in their ears. Shit like that. And he did indeed end up buried up to his neck in a corn field in Illinois, in only his underwear.
