They bug me.

Three reasons:

1. I find them aesthetically unappealing.

2. They make me feel physically uncomfortable when I look at them.

3. I find the whole "look at my piercings and tattoos, see how much of a rebel and an individual I am?" thing kind of ridiculous. If everyone's doing it, you're not a rebel any more. You're a sheep.

Please note that I never said you, or anyone else, shouldn't get piercings and/or tattoos. Do your thing. You asked a specific question, and I responded to that question. I also have two tattoos that I got in the Marines. I regret them, but I'm keeping them to remind me of the stupidity of which I am capable. I also have a full beard and very long hair, but that's more a function of NOT doing something, then of actively DOING something to alter my appearance. I imagine my facial hair and curly locks make some people uncomfortable. That's their problem, not mine.

Based on what I've seen so far in this thread, I guess you're now going to argue with my opinions, like I don't have a right to hold the "wrong" feelings or opinions. If that's your thing, feel free. I just think it's a little odd to ask for opinions, then to lecture respondents on why their opinions are "wrong."

ETA: The rudeness was uncalled-for and inexcuseable. You handled it exactly right.
