yesterday. Seems the variety that grows in Iraq could take December or longer to ripen, and their color traditionally is "yellow." So, unless you knew exactly where the photo was taken and could locate a farmer in the area, it would be hard to know.

The "Hamurabi (Iraqi Culture) web site says that the "yellow dates" is bogus because farmers in the area said dates could be unripened until March. But, for all I know "Hamurabi" could be a Chalabi friendly web site and it's in their interest to "debunk the story."
