52. Clark must be SOS
Clark would best serve this nation as secretary of State. He is brilliant and well respected in international relations. He'd be the best SOS we've had since god knows when.

That said, I agree it would be great to put Clark up on the ticket and in the debate against Cheney. But VPs may add few favoite son votes and their profile is just too low in the campaign season. Dean must announce him for SOS and get Clark to campaign for the ticket starting at the convention or earlier.

Bob Graham, although not a particularly imposing figure, would shred Cheney to pieces. He has nothing to lose and it seems like he despises Cheney and his ilk viscerally. Maybe the WaPo would even get behind him and start cheering for the good guys again.

Dean desperately needs someone experienced on the Hill at his right hand side. Edwards would also add greatly to a Dean ticket but I don't think he has the contacts there after less than one term. Gephardt also fits the bill but the House is probably beyond reach this time so I don't think he'd be that effective.

I would like to see all candidates drop out of the race immediately except for Dean and Clark. Clark just in case Dean fatally shoots himself in the foot. This is a time for SOLIDARITY. Everyone has to get behind the leader.

Politics is a crap shoot. On paper Clark has the better chance but Dean has that certain something. His SC speech was Kennedyesque. He's moderate and pragmatic enough for many centrists and he can inspire the core. We need a sparkplug to get this engine turned over and humming once again. Like it or not, Dean is that sparkplug.
