Also, Floridians are some of the most environmentally conscience voters in the country. That was why a hard right winger like Jeb Bush was so opposed to offshore drilling in the Gulf of Mexico. He knew that if he did not oppose his brother, the voters in Florida would eat him alive. Put any silly environmentally issue up for a referendum vote in Florida and it will pass with no problem. Take the fishing net ban passed in the early 90's. Most environmental groups opposed it as too restrictive and ineffective, but it sailed right through. The high speed rail is another good example.
