After all the half-truths and outright lies of government authorities, it's difficult to totally believe that she'd remember all the things the Iraqis said they'd done to help her, but our reports initially denied or downplayed, yet she doesn't remember the sexual assault. I'm no expert so I can only suppose that even in that situation some memories are easier to retain (like the accident and the pain), while others are too traumatic. The only alternative is that she was assaulted, while unconcious, before Iraqi medical personnel got to her.
