the image of an effete, moneyed, country club type. Can't have him representing the party of "regular ol', hardworking, redblooded Amurricans", can we?
I must confess that I've always enjoyed Buckley's writing style (although he is wrong 99.9 of the time) and his physical affectations (but you probably already knew that :))
The ironic thing about Buckley's disappearance from the public stage is that he was the gop's original "young man on campus" and that he was instrumental in making Catholicism palatable to the right wing. He did his damage and is now glorying in his "retirement"
