If you want to Meditate on the clock or at school, then, by all means, meditate. No one is stopping you or your children from praying, chanting, reflecting, or anything else (as long as it's quietly and respectful to others).
The government cannot encourage people to practice religion any more than it can discourage, and that's exactly what the "moments of silence" are about.
And no, they were not added for Buddhists, Jews, Muslims, Seikhs, or Voo-doo practioners. They were added b/c of Christians.
