my friend that I have known for years, finally, told me this story about her experience. She was in highschool and was pregnant, her parents were religious. She kept her pregnancy hidden (that must have been hard) from her parents. Her parents left town and she started into labor, alone, frightened. She had her baby son in the bathtub and almost bled to death. Her parents were shocked--they loved her and were more frightened that she could have died. She's been married now for over thirty years to the father of the child-he didn't know and she was too ashamed to tell anyone. It's time that society and families acknowledge that these things happen and leave the shame at the door!
