... sometimes the mask slips off. That's all that happened. Too many conservatives surround themselves with thinkalikes and lookalikes and, as a cultural group, never question their assumptions or their own infallibility. So it eventually seems like a harmless point to brickheads like Bennett to reflexively equate criminality with being black. He has no idea what kind of harm that sort of hate speech causes. And don't mistake--he did not mean that maliciously, but it's still the worst form of hate speech: the kind that lures others into thinking it's okay to dismiss fellow citizens, fellow humans, solely on the basis of skin color.

It's really me who's losing it. I'm losing the ability to be appalled any more.
