Promises Betrayed: Waking Up from the American Dream
Bob Herbert

Bob Herbert argues that America has let down many of its citizens in his new book, "Promises Betrayed: Waking Up from the American Dream." The author examines the lives of working people, racial minorities and children in the U.S. Mr. Herbert asserts that the neglect of both educational and health care programs in the U.S. is a direct result of the millions of dollars spent on the war in Iraq. This event is hosted by the Free Library of Philadelphia.

Bob Herbert is an op-ed columnist for The New York Times and a former correspondent for NBC News. He was a member of the editorial board and a reporter for the New York Daily News.

Publisher: Times Books 175 Fifth Avenue New York, NY 10010
