it made me think to myself that the United States (especially the South) is only a generation removed from vigilante lynchings of blacks who dared to so much as whistle in the presence of a white woman (Emmet Till). Heck, we still have some Americans today like Trent Lott who still pine for those "good ol' days". Honor killings are awful and should be punished and condemned, but let's not get too high and mighty.
