There was a post here recently, a link to an article about Frist, he said his mother constantly bolstered his self esteem, making sure he was first in everything. He said he was insufferable. . .implying because of that.

It fits with my theory, which is not really different from the "myth" theory I guess. In my family we were made to fell thankful for all we have (we were lower middle class when I was growing up). Remember the Kennedys saying "those to whom much is given, much is expected." That's how I was raised.

I never see evidence of gratitude on the part of GOP leaders, only entitlement. "We're entitled to drive big cars and waste resources because we are Americans" or whatever.

If you are entitled, or believe you are entitled, its easy to do whatever it is you want. Consequences don't (or shouldn't) apply to you.
