12. ha ha!
God, i remember when i first really thought that in highschool civics class.. I really believed it seeing local community councils. My city council at the time, santa monica california, was quite socialist. I figured that since the films industry was based in that area, it would naturally rule the entire country ideologically. Clearly other folks saw similarly at the time, neocon sorts, who decided to reverse and pervert the unifying power of TV and broadcast media to their own political ends.

In a nation as large as the US, to not have any truthful news source is a downright travesty... to the point that shooting your television with your handgun may indeed be the best political move.

Then in a subsequent world, nobody will trust mass media, and huddled in mud huts, we can discuss how powerless we are.

Clearly the constitution has grossly failed to predict the emergence of braodcast media and its ability to completely pervert the "justice for all" principals of the constitutional republic. Mass media creeped up on the constitution and took it over in the blink of an eye. Now you are nothing but a political target market segment in a media database of 280,000,000 rows... and selective political marketing messages are sent to each row... in your mail slot and whichever media you are statistically likely to touch... that using corporate-evolved marketing techniques, a well financed political party cannot lose EVER due to the power of mass brainwashing.

Britain does not have a written constitution, and when broadcast technologies emerged, the people realized that it would pervert the course of justice if not regulated as a public good... and hence the BBC, chartered with telling the truth on the public behalf.

Becasee the american media corporations are allied to the energy/military sectors, this well financed braiinwashing is around wars for energy... all legitimized by a state of mass hypnosis... the media-state. The only way to recover any semblance of democracy without regulation of television is to smash every TV box, radio and transmitter until the public is free... like in the film "running man".

I sat in a room in germany with a family with a stool in the corner engraved with the star of david. I asked the family about the stool, as they were not jewish and it turned out the stool belonged to the grandfather who was in the nazi army in stalingrad, captured and spent 10 years in a russian prison. He had given his son the chair, and his son proudly keeps it in the sitting room as a rememberance of his father. The chair came furniture looted from jewish homes during the holocaust.

I realized that seeing that chair was the most personal, "REAL" touch i ever had with the holocaust, everything else distant intellectual knowledge from "the world at war" and various books. The grandfather was very brainwashed nazi foot soldier and stayed that way until his death. Hitler was a great man to him, and he was leading the german people to take the oilfields.

I use the anecdote to explain both the unreality of media-brainwashing knowledge vs direct contact... and how long the brainwashing cycle takes between mass media wash cycles. The war on drugs will be worshipped by some sick grandfather some day, as will be the war on iraq. Germany is now among the most wealthy and socialist, peaceful nations that are america's allies. The new brainwashing cycle, the german media is now outstanding.

Is that a democracy, a timoocracy or a plutocracy. As power is wielded by a small military-media elite who brainwash the public to elect them, i woudl be inclined to call that a timocracy.

Oh well, i've a fascination with high school physics.. ;-)
