IMHO a lot of people, on both sides in the suburbs and collar counties, were just so flat ass disgusted by the high profile corruption of George Ryan and the Republicans in Springfield for the last election cycle that they were voting hard core anti-Repub.

Combine that with the foolishness of the Jack Ryan Senatorial candidacy implosion, and we have no functioning Repub party in Illinois.

I don't see them pulling their heads our of their ass anytime soon either while they are lead by that pillar of inspriation and leadership,.Judy Baar Topinka. Ha!
