17. Quite the opposite, actually
My thread says it's Rove's move to push Shrump toward the center--lay off all the bad stuff on Dickie. Announce proudly and happily that he's going to be Spending More Time with His Family instead of enduring the grueling travails of the campaign trail (that bad heart!), and then let it be known--under the table, just to all them friendly pundits they've got on the payroll--that he's really the one responsible for all the bad stuff. His idea to invade Iraq, pushing CIA to produce bad intel, etc.

Do I want this move to succeed? Not hardly. I'm with you: I don't want his ouster to be orchestrated in a way that benefits the shrump, but that's how it's shaping up, I think. if he goes down I want it to be with major stink bombs going off all over the place making the admin look as corrupt and incompetent as it truly is. But if I were Rove, this is how I'd play it.

There has to be SOME explanation why they let him go off and spout all the old lies so forcefully on Sunday when they knew--KNEW I say--they were going to head off in this new direction, experimenting with, like, honesty 'n' stuff, this week. This has not unfolded like a miscommunication or a mistake within the admin. I don't subscribe to the "Rove Is All Powerful, All Knowing" theory, but they KNOW what their guys are going to say when they go out on these shows--most "on message" admin in history. So it had to be deliberate.
