Whatever your politics, he's bound to offend you at some point.

I heard one episode where he pretended to be a religious nut, selling plastic icons of the balcony at the moment MLK Jr. was assasinated, claiming that if we didn't worship an image of King (which we could buy from him for $20), King's spirit would grow angry, and cause an earthquake to kill off the unbelievers.

It was awful. People called in, defending MLK, not knowing the guest religious nut was the actually host disguising his voice. They said terrible things on the air about this character, and the character said terrible things about the callers.

I'm not sure if any of it was funny, but it certainly made a point about religious hucksters saying insane things and being taken seriously, and about how people will simply believe something just because they heard it on the radio.

It was offensive, embarrasing, and a bit cruel, but one of the most thought provoking hours I have ever run into on radio.
