associate the religious right with Christianity. When the media talks about a Christian viewpoint, they are talking about the religious right. When I talk about a Christian viewpoint, I mean something very different.

I think much of the american public doesn't know what lies behind the fuzzy family-friendly agenda. If they did, they wouldn't associate the RR with their own personal religion. But without knowing enough about the RR, it is easy for the public to be swayed by Falwell et al's assertion that any criticism of them or their movements is an assault on christianity.

I think we ignore them at our peril.
