31. Franken thinks this is "equal time" journalism...
... and gives his long-time friend the opportunity to speak, therefore.

Maybe Franken hopes to show up the right, to punch holes in their logic (no need to do that, since they don't exhibit any logic), but I think the true reason that Mark Luther, the dittohead, is on is that Franken can get back at Limbaugh through him.

Franken intends Luther to be a comic foil, but it never seems to come off quite as well as he intends, partly because, as today, he always introduces Luther as "a really great guy...." Franken doesn't understand that he'll never decimate Limbaugh through Luther because Luther is his friend, and he'll always give the man the benefit of the doubt. If the man is a racist, because he believes Limbaugh's racist remarks, that friendship bars Franken from telling him he's an outright racist.

Franken screwed the pooch with me when he said, "I'm a good DLC Democrat." Fine, that tells me he's okay with Democratic politicians supported by corporate money from the right wing. Then he has this wingnut Luther on the day after the election, so the idiot could chortle about the drubbing the Democrats took, about which Franken could say very, very little.

Franken has simply misunderstood a basic about political life today--if you're polite with the right and want to engage them in debate in a spirit of bipartisanship, they'll shit all over you every chance they get, which Franken's buddy does to him--and his listeners--regularly. The right has a monstrously large political voice in this country--in Congress, in the White House, in the media--the left doesn't need to give them equal time.

Franken's the victim of political date rape, and can't bring himself to admit it. Go on being "bipartisan," Al, and keep on takin' it up the ass.
