73. Too cautious
And ineffective spin control. When we caught Bush in a lie during the 3rd debate right off the first question, that SHOULD have sunk him, along with the missing explosives. It DIDN'T because of Kerry's stupid, off the cuff, remark about Dick Cheney's daughter. I am willing to bet that if he had NOT said that, then Bush's little lie would have been given the attention it deserved and sunk the stupid little smirk. That is just a sterling example of the lack of spin control.

Their lack of caution was another problem. John Kerry didn't establish a solid stance on Iraq until the convention, and up until then he was trying to have it both ways. That gave BushCo too much ammo right there.

One BIG problem the Kerry campaign suffered from was no overall message. All the other primary campaigns had one, the Kerry campaign did NOT. The Bush campaign did, Kerry's was only, "I'm not Bush," and then was a hodgepodge of stances on the issues. Bush, and all the other eight contenders, HAD an overall message, like Gen. Clark's New American Patriotism and his 100 Year Vision for America. This I think hampered Kerry because there wasn't any slogan that could really sum up what he was about.
