47. The president can only effect the economy by suggestion.
Government spending is decided by the congress. The president can only suggest a budget and spending. The congress has introduce the bills for that spending.

How the "people feel" has an impact. How the capitalists "feel" has a helluva lot more impact. How they shuffle the money around and lobby for their interests has a lot more to do with economy than whether the people like the prez. Wall Street isn't exactly weeping over the Repugs success.

If you're basing your judgement of "good" or "bad" presidents solely on the state of the economy, then can we assume that Eisenhower was a "good" president? Kennedy mediocre? LBJ bad? Nixon good? Reagan good? Carter bad? Bush I, bad? Clinton good? Bush II bad?

The economy of this country is headed for collapse, not becuase of Bush, but because our economy is dependent on the rest of the world. Which has grown weary of being ripped off and exploited.

The majority of the American people still delude themselves into believing that we can force the rest of the world to provide them with cheap oil, cheap labor, cheap resources, to sustain both our greed and the military force to keep them doing so.

Clinton supported NAFTA, the WTO, the IMF, and all the other corporate entities and tools. The fat cats control the economy not the president.
