They don't EXPECT the matter to pass. Just like they didn't EXPECT all those flag burning issues to pass!!!
All they're doing is pulling a bait and switch. They're burning up airtime with a hot button issue. Get the Democrats in one house to vote for the issue and the states will stall on it!!! YOU WATCH!!!! It's wedge issue value will dissipate when Democrats start voting for it!!! Therefore it will be of ZERO value to them!!!!
What will come next will come anyway. Better to get this issue that ONLY REFLECTS THE STATUS QUO out of the way so we can fight over substantial issues that affect 95% of the population instead of 5%!!!!
What is coming next is an assault on abortion rights. Here too the Democrats need to be pre-emptive and INTRODUCE legislation banning the non-existent procedure called "partial birth abortion" for cases where the mother's life is NOT at risk. Guess what, the wedge DISSAPEARS!!! And the legislation has ZERO value to the Pukes!!!
Dammit, you folks are getting JUST like the Republicans. Your obsessed with the PRINCIPLE of things instead of the EFFECT!!!! Get a little more savvy and you'll win some more elections!!!
You gotta face that the Pukes are going to have there way on MOST things now. We have to PRIORITIZE and pick our battles. Grandstanding on an issue that effects only 5% of the population will GET US NO WHERE!!!!
