13. I blogged Matthews on this.

I asked Matthews how many past presidents were guys to go have a beer with.

Certainly LBJ was a drinker, but he hit the hard stuff and would hardly have been shooting the shit in a bar.

How about Dick Nixon, now that would have been a fun evening. He drank and babbled at the White House portraits.

Jimmy Carter? Brother Billy, yeah, but Jimmy? I don't think so.

And George W. is an alcoholic. How many beers has Chris had with him?

General Eisenhower? Hanging out in a bar having a beer with Ike? Nah.

How about FDR .. do you suppose he spent a lot of time at the corner bar swigging brews?

I'm sure Jack Kennedy enjoyed a drink, but he wasn't a guy that exactly mixed with the common man to get it. Probably the sleaziest place he ever drank was when he was hanging with Frank and the Pack in Vegas.

And Reagan? Far from the conventional wisdom we have crammed down our throats about Reagan, he didn't hang out with anybody but Nancy. I don't think they were beer drinkers.

Jerry Ford? Nah, he'd spill his beer all over your pants.

Daddy Bush? Posh cocktail party guy all the way. (You don't really think he ate pork rinds, do you?)

So this "have a beer" thing regarding John Kerry is so bogus and invalid. I think Teresa really set him straight on that. She's the bomb.

Hey, did anyone hear Franken rip Matthews up on the "left-wing radio" question? It was beautiful!!!
