7. No doubt they lied to the troops about post-Iraq.
Sad thing is, they had a window of opportunity to implement a Marshall Type plan on Iraq immediately after the war, but it appears they never gave the civilian infrastructure a moment's thought. It was about oil, military logistics, and the political benefits for Dimson's re-election.

One thing this fiasco clearly illuminates is that this administration is so frigging inbred, they are incapable of understanding the complete dynamics of their actions. It's obvious that Bush is served by ass-kissers and synophants. A smart President (like Clinton) would surround himself with people of differing opinions and he would value dissenting voices to help protect him (and us) from myopic worldviews of ideologues. Bush (1) demands his ego be stroked 'cuz he's in charge and (2) he offloads the "technical stuff" to his trusted cabal. While this cabal might think they know what's going on, they really haven't a clue. Sure, they had the PNAC plan and an idea of what they wanted America to be in the 21st Century. Unfortunately, nobody much thought about the rest of the world and whther they wanted to play the roles they were assigned.

Bush wanted this war so bad and for all the wrong reasons.....Dad's mortal enemy, oil, political image, etc. But he couldn't make a case for war on these bases, so they floated the WMD gambit. I'm sure they assumed they find something to justify their actions, but I'm also sure that any warnings to the contrary were summarily dismissed by these arrogant bastards.

The UN told them they weren't finding any and Bush called the UN "irrelevant". Real smart George. Now that you "won" the war, how are you going to "win" the peace? Are we ready to pay that price, because you had to have that photo-op on the aircraft carrier?
