The officer, Capt. Leo Merck, 32, of Fremont, Calif., a member of the California National Guard who worked as a financial analyst before going to Iraq, is suspected of photographing the soldiers as they showered at the prison, the officials said.
Three female soldiers filed the accusations in November, the Contra Costa (Calif.) Times reported Wednesday. Lt. Michael Drayton, who took over as commander of the 870th Military Police Company after Merck was relieved, said Merck faced a court-martial in Kuwait.
