8. It is not just the right wing Christians that are selective on brining God
into things. Like the right, GLBT neighbors require Bible waving and Rick Warren, but mention torture or vast fraud and theft, suddenly their faith is out of the picture, and the only concern is for politics. It gets tiresome, out of the President for example, hearing about how religious he is when he talks about his neighbor's civil rights, but hearing nothing but pragmatic concern for his own political hide when it comes to the truth about torture. For I was in prison, and you did not visit me. Indeed.
To be blunt about it, I find the President's faith to be an affectation because of that. On healthcare, he does not mention faith. Why not? It is the proper area to speak of such things, with actual Jesus quotes to use, unlike the anti-gay trip where they have to clip stuff out of Leviticus and pretend Leviticus does not also favor slavery and execution for Surf n' Turf. If you do not favor slavery as in Leviticus, and you do not think women should shut up in public like St Paul, then you have no Bible left to beat gay people with. Not one of these Democratic marriage defenders follows either Leviticus or the rules of St Paul. Not one of them. And yet they claim these books as the excuse for doing wrongs to others. It is really amazing behavior, and it is most certainly not exclusive to the right.
