2. Yes, too many people are going to college.
It became required to go to college when I was a kid. If we didn't get a B.A. at least, we'd all end up as the slaves of the wealthy and powerful and smart overclass. Now everyone has a college degree, but nobody can fix a car or cook a meal worth a damn. Remember the opening song from "Avenue Q":

What do I do with a B.A. in English?
What is my life going to be?
Four years of college and plenty of knowledge
Have earned me this USELESS degree...
