George I smeared Dukakis as somehow un-american because of his last name. He wrapped himself in the flag and intimated that Dukakis' veto of a bill requiring recitation of the pledge of allegiance in Mass. classrooms was un- american. There was also the "Willie Horton" ad which tied him to a prison furlough program that began before he was Gov. and ended in his term. All this was done by Roger Ailes as George I campaign manager, now the head of Fox News.
