8. Very poignant essay!
Or, in modern lingo, "spot on", Phil. Nicely done.

You hit the nail on the head, beginning with your first sentence about the "deceitful leading the disengaged". That really goes to the heart of the matter why there are so many dutiful followers who, despite the completely abysmal stupidity of the misAdministration's policies, they still voice support for * in polls, etc. These people are either mentally deficient, blinded by ideology, or (most likely) completely disengaged, paying no attention to what is happening, because of faith that "we don't have to (pay attention), we know he's working for us." Sheesh, ya gotta wonder if the population should have the right to vote dependent on being able to demonstrate some basic understanding of the world they live in.

And thereafter you've made many good points in authoring a very well-constructed and informative essay. There are several very good writers represented here on DU; you're in the class of the best of them, Phil.

Let there be peace.
